What makes Everest Region worth the journey
The Khumbu is the homeland of the Sherpa people and the approach to Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Suspension bridges strung with prayer flags cross deep river gorges, teahouses serve dal bhat at 4,000 m, and the trail passes mani stones that should always be walked around clockwise. Altitude sets the pace here, and that turns out to be a good thing.
