The journey

Overview

If you have ten days and want to understand Nepal rather than just tick off a trek, this is the itinerary. It moves at a comfortable pace with no walking days over a few hours: UNESCO heritage in the Kathmandu Valley, rhino country in Chitwan, the quiet monastic gardens where Siddhartha Gautama was born, and sunrise over the Annapurnas from Sarangkot.

What stays with you

Highlights

  • Guided heritage walk through Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur Durbar Squares
  • Jeep safari and dugout canoe ride in Chitwan National Park
  • Maya Devi Temple and the international monastic zone at Lumbini
  • Sunrise over Machapuchare and the Annapurnas from Sarangkot
  • Boat crossing on Phewa Lake to the World Peace Pagoda
