Overview

Ama Yangri gives you one of the widest Himalayan panoramas in Nepal for the least effort — Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and the Jugal range, all from a prayer-flag summit you can reach and return from in a single morning. The base is Tarkeghyang, a Hyolmo village of stone houses and an old gompa. Ideal as a standalone weekend or as an acclimatisation warm-up before a longer trek.

    Drive to Tarkeghyang

    Morning drive from Kathmandu into Helambu, arriving at the village in time to visit the gompa and settle into your homestay.

    Summit Ama Yangri

    Pre-dawn start for sunrise on the summit ridge, then an unhurried descent back to the village for lunch.

    Return to Kathmandu

    A slow breakfast, a walk through the village, then the drive back to the city by afternoon.
