    Kathmandu arrival and rooftop dinner

    Sunset welcome overlooking Swayambhunath with an introduction to the valley from a cultural historian.

    Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Squares

    Morning at the old royal square, then Patan's metalworking courtyards and the Patan Museum.

    Bhaktapur artisans and pottery

    Hands-on session with the potters of Bhaktapur, followed by a bowl of juju dhau in the square.

    Newari cooking class and drive to Chitwan

    Cook lunch with your hosts, then travel south to the Terai and settle into the jungle lodge.

    Chitwan jungle safari

    Jeep safari, dugout canoe, and a guided walk looking for rhino, gharial, and the park's 500-plus bird species.

  6. 6

    Tharu village evening

    Bicycle through the buffer-zone villages, then a stick dance performance and dinner with a Tharu family.

  7. 8

    Return to Kathmandu and depart

    Morning drive or short flight back to the capital for onward travel.
