The journey
Overview
This is the itinerary for travellers who want a taste of trekking without committing two weeks to it. Three trail days take you to the Gurung village of Ghandruk beneath Annapurna South. From there you drop to the Terai for wildlife, then finish in Bandipur — a car-free Newari trading town on a ridge, with the whole Himalayan skyline laid out at breakfast.

Itinerary

Kathmandu exploration
Arrive and walk Kathmandu Durbar Square and the Asan bazaar with your guide.

Pokhara to Ghandruk
Drive to the trailhead and climb through terraced hillsides to the stone village of Ghandruk.

Ghandruk morning and descent
Sunrise on Annapurna South, a visit to the Gurung museum, then the walk back down to the road.

Descend to Chitwan
Travel south to the subtropical Terai and an afternoon orientation walk along the Rapti River.

Chitwan safari day
Full-day jeep safari and canoe ride with a naturalist, followed by a Tharu cultural evening.

Drive to Bandipur
Climb to the ridge-top Newari town and walk its car-free main street as the light drops.

Bandipur and Siddha Cave
Sunrise at Thani Mai, then an optional hike to Siddha Cave, the largest in Nepal.

Return to Kathmandu
Drive back along the Prithvi Highway for your onward departure.
